Dumfries and Galloway driver Rory Young and co-driver Jamie Edwards were on form to clinch the Asset Alliance Group Scottish title at the Dunoon Presents Argyll Rally, two years after Rory’s maiden SRC victory in the same event.
It was another triumph for a Skoda Fabia RS Rally2, and another podium lock-out for Pirelli as Arbroath’s Hugh Brunton and Richard Wardle finished second in their VW Polo GTi, and Mark McCulloch, from Dumfries, and Moray’s Michael Hendry (Proton Satria) took third in their first tarmac event since Dunoon last year.

The Argyll event provided two days of excitement through the streets of Dunoon and across the spectacular Cowal Peninsula. Jersey’s Sam Touzel and co-driver Max Freeman claimed a maiden overall victory after a confident start-to-finish performance in their Ford Fiesta Rally2. The win was 32-year-old Sam’s first victory outside Jersey.
Touzel said afterwards: “We’ve finally done it! It’s been a massive effort and it’s such a hard rally. The stages are just so tough. I’m over the moon right now, there has been such a massive effort from everybody”.
Rory Young secured second overall, with Brunton third, but unfortunately for home fans Dunoon crews Matt Youden and Ross Bell, and veteran David and wife Jenny Robertson, failed to finish.
Organised and promoted by Mull Car Club and supported by a dedicated team of volunteers, the 2025 event confirmed Argyll’s place as one of the UK’s premier closed-road motorsport events.
